Fuel injector symptoms for  bad, faulty, dirty, clogged, or leaking injectors are :

  • bad fuel injectors will cause smogStarting issues
  • Poor idle
  • Failed emissions
  • Poor Performance
  • Engine does not reach full RPM
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Rough engine performance
  • Surging and bucking under various throttle loads
  • Smoke from the tail pipe
  • Engine Knock or Detonation which can lead to catastrophic engine failure
  • Pollution

Leaking Fuel Injectors will cause:

  • Increased Fuel Consumption
  • Leaking fuel injectors is a fire hazardPoor Idle
  • Fuel odors inside and around the car
  • Hard Starting
  • Poor Emissions
  • Oil thinning, which can lead to catastrophic engine failure
  • Hydro lock, which can lead to catastrophic engine failure

External injector leaks is a fire hazard and can not be fixed.

Fuel Injectors with external leaks due to a cracked fuel injector body must be replaced.

Clogged Fuel Injectors

A fuel injector is considered to be clogged if the amount of debris inside the injector or filter basket has built up to such an extent that it does not allow fuel to flow trough it. Old fuel, carbon and residue inside the fuel cause fuel injectors and or their filter baskets to become clogged.

Once the fuel injectors itself or the fuel injector filter basket becomes clogged no amount of intake or fuel rail induced fuel injector cleaners will resolve the problem. The only and proper way to deal with a clogged fuel injector is to remove it from the fuel rail and have it professionally cleaned.

If only the filter basket becomes clogged the fitter basket should be removed and be replaced with a similar style basket in micron size, length and diameter.

Dirty Fuel Injectors:

Fuel injectors are considered to be dirty when the hydrocarbons and additives which all forms part of today’s fuels, together with engine gunk and carbon, cause the injectors to become restricted. Fuel injector flow rates, atomization and distribution are affected and this can cause all sorts of drive-ability and performance problems

Although there is some quality “in fuel tank” fuel injector cleaners that might help to keep your fuel injectors in good shape the only true and tested way to clean fuel injectors properly are and have always been to do it outside the engine and with the proper cleaning equipment. This process is inexpensive and has saved people hundreds of dollars.

In most cases dirty fuel injectors does not have to be replaced with expensive new fuel injectors. Your old fuel injectors can be reconditioned to operate at the same level as new fuel injectors.

Faulty fuel injectors:

Fuel injectors are deemed to be faulty if they do not operate as designed.

Clean Fuel Injectors:

Fuel injectors are considered to be clean if and when fuel delivery, atomization and distribution are within 1% of the design specification of that fuel injector.

Bad fuel Injectors:

The coil is bad (resistance is out of spec or none existent)
Broken Pintle, ball or disc
Broken Return Spring
Bad Pintle or Ball seat
Pintle or Ball seized to the body (Rust etc.)
Leak in the actual injector body
The injector can not be recovered.

We do not charge for the time spent on bad fuel injectors.
